Since February 2011, we have successfully provided cancer awareness talks to Schools, Community groups and Businesses across Suffolk.
With cancer affecting 1 in 3 of us in our lifetime, we believe everyone needs to be given the knowledge to recognise the early signs and symptoms of cancer and understand the importance of the National Screening available.
It is a known fact that at least 80% of common cancers can be successfully treated if they are diagnosed in the early stages. We don’t want people to fear cancer so much that they put their head in the sand and ignore those early warning signs. We want to encourage people to go to their GP when a problem persists.
Are you aware of the national statistic that says that a third of the common cancers can be prevented by living a healthy lifestyle? There are many myths about as to what might cause cancer and what might prevent it. We want people to understand how they can make adjustments to their lifestyle which will give them a chance of a healthier future.
We want to reach as many people in Suffolk as possible with our cancer awareness talks. I would suggest if you are in any doubt as to whether the talk would suit your group, school or business, visit our feedback page or contact our Educators.
"In the whole two years I have been presenting these talks, I have never had anyone say to me, I wish I hadn’t attended. On the other hand I have had many people say to me, I wasn’t going to attend because ... But I am so glad I came”
We do make a charge for our services, as we want the project to be sustainable; unfortunately we do not receive any statutory funding, so rely on the continued support from the people of Suffolk.
